Someone, or something might just be out to kill you; but for what purpose? There could be thousands of reasons; some reasons could be complete nonsense. But nonetheless, they want to kill you. Keeping your guard up has become utmost importance, despite not many tending to do so. In the end, those who do not do so may find themselves dead the next day.

Young Kudo Shinichi, the modern day Sherlock Holmes of Japan learned the hard way as he eavesdropped on someone who was intending on committing blackmail. Force-fed a poison called APTX-4869; it shrunk him into the body of an eight year old. This heinous criminal who force-fed him the concoction, codename Gin, is a member of the Black Organization, a secret crime syndicate that uses alcohol for their codenames. Dangerous criminals they are, capable of removing every trace of them from a murder case and blame it on someone else. Because of this, the FBI and CIA have made their way to Japan in order to find a way to eliminate the Black Organization that seems to have been causing crimes throughout the world. Whether the problems are blackmail, murders, assassinations, robberies, or forcing someone to do their work for them, the Black Organization has stepped into the lives of selected civilians in order to accomplish their goals; goals which remain unknown to anyone outside of the organization.

But not only is the organization causing problems for Japan, it appears that the mysterious Phantom Thief Kaito Kid has returned after having disappeared for decades! He seems to be causing problems for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police to a point where the whole police force must join forces when the magician makes an appearance with his classic calling cards. Detectives from throughout the world who desire to catch this famous thief have often made appearances in Japan and aligned themselves amongst the police, but so far none have succeeded in capturing Kid. To which matter, many members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police have been put to shame for not being capable of capturing Kid.
